Picture Courtesy – ISL Media XtraTime Web Desk – A close contest in Bambolim saw Jamshedpur FC beat Chennaiyin FC to regain momentum. With the win, they also kept their chances to qualify for the semifinals alive. Chennaiyin started well. Chhangte in the 2nd minute only could’ve scored from a curling shot but TP Rehenesh made a perfect jump to his left to deny him scoring early on! The match was very gripping and was evenly poised until Chennaiyin got another chance in the 30th minute. Raheem Ali’s powerful shot was blocked by Ricky. In the 36th minute, because of a blunder from the goalkeeper, Jamshedpur got a chance to score the first goal of the night but David failed to hit it on target and the match remained in level terms. The hunt for the opening goal continued in the second half as well. Jamshedpur got a great chance to put themselves ahead once again but nothing happened in the end. It took a lot of time and finally in the 90th minute mark, the deadlock finally broke. David Grande’s shot was deflected off Enes Sipovic and Jamshedpur went 1-0 ahead. Jamshedpur now has 21 points from 17 games and are 6th in the table while Chennaiyin are at 8th place with 17 points from 17 games. .

Bengaluru made some school boys errors to concede both the goals. Roy Krishna and Marcelinho partnership is the real deal for ATK Mohun Bagan. Specially with Lenny Rodriguez in the midfield, Mariners were all over the blues. Marcelinho got a good chance in the 7th minute of the match while Roy Krishna got an opportunity in the 18th minute but both the times Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made good saves to keep Bengaluru into the game. Carl Mchugh threw another shot in the 30th minute and once again Gurpreet made another brilliant save as Bengaluru looked to lose control of the match. In the 37th minute, ATK Mohun Bagan finally broke the deadlock as Roy Krishna scored from the penalty after a horrible foul made by Pratik to bring Krishna down. The Fijian made no mistake and ATK Mohun Bagan went 1-0 up. Just few minutes later, Harmanjot Khabra made a horrible tackle just outside the box. Both the Penalty and this this foul were simply school boy errors from the Bengaluru players. Marcelinho stepped up and scored a brilliant goal from the free-kick to put Mariners 2-0 up. It was same in the second half. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was brilliant under the bar otherwise the scoreline could’ve been different at the end of the night. In the 49th minute, Sandesh Jhingan’s powerful shot was once again brilliantly stopped by Gurpreet. Throughout the second half ATK Mohun Bagan kept pressure in the Bengaluru defence. Gurpreet was ready for everything. Sunil Chhetri finally got a chance to pull one back for Arindam had no problem whatsoever to save it. With 9th clean sheet of the season, ATK Mohun Bagan are now 2nd in the table with 33 points from 16 games while Bengaluru are 6th in the table with 19 points from 17 matches. .

From the first whistle, the match was match was evenly poised. Both the teams played attacking football and the defence had a tough job in hand. Hugo Boumous got a good chance to score in the 7th minute of the match but his shot was beautifully saved by the youngster Dheeraj Singh. Mumbai however found the opening in the 20th minute of the match. Adam Le Fondre assisted Hugo as the midfielder converted to give the Islanders the important lead. Six minutes later, Adam Le Fondre put Mumbai 2-0 ahead and Mumbai looked in total control of the match. FC Goa then tried to comes into the match as Seriton missed a good chance in the 34th minute. They however scored in the 45th minute as the new comer Glen Martins scored a screamer from outside the box as the first half ended 2-1 in favour of the Islanders. Igor Angulo put FC Goa into the level terms in the 51st minute after Mumbai City FC defenders were caught off guard. They tried an offside trap on Angulo but failed to keep him under control and FC Goa were level. Jorge tried to put FC Goa ahead for the first time but his shot went over the bar. Post that, Rowliin Borges got a great chance to put Mumbai City ahead but his powerful shot went just above the bar. Rowliin however put Mumbai ahead in the 90th minute from a tap-in. That’s not that. Ishan Pandita scored in the 96th minute to put Goa into level terms once again and it was indeed a thrilling end to close the contest. Jamshedpur started well in the first half but SC East Bengal blew the first blow as Matti Steinmann put the red and gold brigade in the 6th minute of the match. Narayan Das’ corner was beautifully headed by Steinmann to put SC East Bengal ahead. Pilkington got another great opportunity to put SC East Bengal ahead in the 31st minute but his long range effort went just off the bar. After a long battle in the midfield, the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the red and gold brigade. SC East Bengal started well in the second half but created a great chance in the 58th minute, when Narayan Das was unmarked and got a chance to put SC East Bengal ahead but Rehenesh made a good save to deny SC East Bengal. In the 68th minute, Pilkington doubled the lead for SC East Bengal. In the 79th minute, Pilkington got another great opportunity to score but failed to put his team a 3 goal cushion. In the 83rd minute Jamshedpur FC when Peter Hartley scored for the red miners and gave Jamshedpur a great chance to make a comeback. Legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and many current Indian stars expressed their views that wasn’t similar to Manvir’s. He supported the farmers and went on to say that if there’s no farmer in the country, then there will be no food. The day was an happening one for the Punjabi lad. He went on to score a brace for Mariners that helped ATK Mohun Bagan beat Odisha FC comfortably by 4-1. Odisha might be the last boy in the table but it wasn’t easy for Odisha. Mariners though took an early lead in the 11th minute as Manvir Singh’s brilliant left footed strike put Mariners ahead. Odisha kept the position but ATK Mohun Bagan was taking all the shots. As expected, Lenny Rodriguez started for them and was close to score one in the 23rd minute but the ball sailed above the post. In the 40th minute, Marcelinho got a great opportunity to put Mariners 2-0 up but his shot was brilliantly saved by Arshdeep Singh. Then, Odisha FC out of nowhere scored in the 46th minute of the match. Cole Alexander’s curler helped Odisha go level just before the half-time. Soon into the second half, it was once again Manvir Singh who put the Mariners ahead. Arshdeep Singh failed to keep Manvir’s grounded shot and Odisha was down once again! Post that, Krishna scored 2 in quick succession to give ATK Mohun Bagan a huge win over Odisha FC. Subrata Paul held the record but as Chennaiyin vs Bengaluru ended 0-0, Gurpreet overtook him as the goalkeeper with most number of clean sheet. Both the goalkeepers, Sandhu and Vishal Kaith started strong. Vishal denied Chhetri in the 2nd minute of the game while Sandhu denied Rahim in the 7th minute of the match. Bengaluru put pressure on Chennaiyin early on but it was again Vishal who played his A game. It was however Chennaiyin who created the first good chance. Chhagte’s header was however collected by Gurpreet. Chennaiyin once again created a good chance for them in the 28th minute. Reagan however couldn’t find any player and the chance was wasted. The first half ended with both the teams fought it out in the mid-field. The second half was more or less same for both the teams. Chennaiyin created the best of chances but they weren’t able to find the goal. They were very close to get the goal but Gurpreet made a superb save to deny. In the 84th minute the ball even hit the bar but no luck! The match ended 0-0. With that, Bengaluru now has 19 points from 16 games and are 6th in the table while Chennaiyin are 8th in the table with 17 points from 16 games. .
