Tom Brady got sloshed during Bucs’ Super Bowl parade, and Twitter loved it
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Tampa celebrated the Buccaneers' Super Bowl 55 victory in style Wednesday, hailing the team as it shared its victory in a boat parade through downtown. Naturally, Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady was the center of attention as he celebrated with his teammates, his kids and, apparently, some libations. That was evident when video showed the 21-year NFL veteran wobbling off the team's party boat: MORE: Michael Irvin says audio shows Brady didn't call Tyrann Mathieu racial slur That certainly explains why Brady inadvisably tossed the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another (no worries; Cameron Brate caught it). It's not too often you see Brady let loose, but you can hardly blame him: With the Bucs' 31-9 win over the Chiefs on Sunday, Brady eclipsed every single NFL franchise in number of Super Bowl wins. He also won his fifth MVP award, forever cementing his status as the GOAT.Regardless, people on Twitter enjoyed seeing this rarely displayed side of Brady. Here's a sampling of some of the best reactions to his inebriation, including Brady himself: How's avocado ice cream for a hangover? — Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) February 10, 2021 He's not drunk. Somebody gave him a carb for the first time in 20 years and he didn't know how to react. — Dave Weigel (@daveweigel) February 10, 2021 .

Tom Brady tosses Lombardi Trophy to Rob Gronkowski at Bucs’ Super Bowl parade
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Tom Brady made perhaps the most important toss of his life during the Buccaneers' Super Bowl 55 parade on Wednesday. Video showed the Super Bowl MVP tossing the Lombardi Trophy — the physical representation of the loftiest goal in the NFL — to teammate Rob Gronkowski. As cringe-inducing as that is, it's made even worse when you realize that it was a boat parade. And that he and Gronk were on different boats. Meaning Brady risked losing it forever if Gronk 1) dropped it in the water or 2) dropped and broke it beyond repair. Kind of makes for a high-stakes throw:MORE: Bucs' Mike Evans, Chris Godwin marvel at Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 55 And here's another clip of the toss, which shows just how far the trophy traveled:If you're going to make a risky throw, who better to ask than Brady? The five-time Super Bowl MVP — who completed 21 of 29 passes for 201 yards and three scores in the 31-9 win over the Chiefs — was pretty much on the money. That said, the trophy was a little wobbly in the air; it might be best to keep it grounded after that flight. Tampa Bay only has one other in stock, after all.Hey, when you've won the Super Bowl as many times as Brady has — that's seven, for those not counting — silly little things like the Lombardi Trophy tend to lose their significance. .

Video shows Bucs’ Mike Evans, Chris Godwin marvel at Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 55: ‘He’s a magician’
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Patrick Mahomes may have failed to lead the Chiefs to a win in Super Bowl 55, but he still left a lasting impact on at least a few Buccaneers players in the 31-9 loss. The defending Super Bowl MVP was forced to extend and create plays with his feet all game against Todd Bowles' aggressive defense, which took advantage of the fact that Kansas City was without its two starting tackles. Mahomes on several occasions ran for his life while avoiding Tampa defenders, only to throw a last-second pass that just missed its mark. Never was that more apparent than when he nearly threw a fourth-down touchdown while his body was parallel to the ground. Regardless of his effectiveness, Mahomes' backyard-styled football clearly amazed Bucs receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller. Video from the game shows them marveling on the sidelines at the Chiefs quarterback:MORE: Mahomes' run of sheer genius ends abruptly in Super Bowl 55 "Magician," indeed. Especially when you take into account he did this with a case of surgery-requiring turf toe.Mahomes completed only 26 of 49 passes for 270 yards and two interceptions — both off tipped passes — but his inability to score on Sunday clearly wasn't for a lack of effort (his receivers also suffered from some untimely drops). As much as the loss surely stings for Mahomes — it was the first time since he took over the starting position that he didn't throw for a touchdown — he can take some cold comfort in the fact he did everything he could in the losing effort. .

LeSean McCoy wins second straight Super Bowl without playing in either game
By admin | | 0 Comments |

With the Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs on Sunday, Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl ring — an all-time amazing feat that eclipses every single NFL franchise in league history. Not to be missed in that incredible statistic: Brady's teammate, running back LeSean McCoy, who won his second consecutive Super Bowl ring without having played in either game. Not bad work, if you can get it.MORE: Robert Horry offers best congratulatory message for Brady after his seventh Super BowlMcCoy earned his first Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs for the 2019 season. In his one year in Kansas City, he ran 101 times for 465 yards and four scores, adding 28 receptions for 181 yards and another touchdown. But he only played in one offensive snap the entire playoffs, against Houston, and was declared inactive for the Chiefs' 31-20 win over the 49ers in Super Bowl 54.Either way, it still counts; that's Super Bowl ring No. 1. After Shady ended his one-year stint in Kansas City, he signed another such deal with Tampa Bay. This time, he played in only 12 games all season, including the Bucs' two postseason wins over New Orleans and Green Bay. While he was deemed active for Super Bowl 55, however, he did not take a snap. That gives him season totals of 10 carries for 31 yards and 15 receptions for 101 yards.Again: It still counts. So that's Super Bowl ring No. 2.Not to detract anything from McCoy, of course. He's an NFL veteran who played a role with both Super Bowl-winning teams, even if he didn't get to contribute in the big game. Call it a reward for a fantastic career, which prior to 2019 included six seasons of at least 1,000 yards rushing and eight straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage — but zero Super Bowl wins. .

The Super spread: Deadspin’s Super Bowl pick ATS
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Betting the game? Here’s what you should know.Illustration: Getty ImagesKansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3)Tampa Bay isn’t a home team because they get to play in their home stadium. The league alternates home and away teams by conference every year. Honestly, Tampa just got lucky. Speaking of coincidences, the Bucs will not be the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home market. And with only a third of the stadium filled for tonight’s game, this isn’t really the year for a home-field advantage. Still, Tampa is getting 3 points against Kansas City, who’ve been the best team in football all season. These two teams already played each other in November in a contest decided by, you guessed it, three points. The game began with Tyreek Hill doing backflips around Tampa’s secondary… literally and ended with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 462 yards and three touchdowns. But Kansas City’s defense let Tom Brady and the Bucs run up a score late. The Chiefs managed to pull out a 27-24 victory, but something tells me we won’t see a repeat of last year’s matchup. The Pick: If you’ve been riding Tampa Bay ATS this postseason, congratulations, you’re making money. The Bucs are 2-0-1 ATS and 3-0 depending on your bookie. For the third straight game, they’ll be underdogs by around three points. After championship Sunday, Vegas opened the Super Bowl betting line at KC -3.5. But due to a recent influx of public money on the Bucs, the line was lowered to 3 on Friday. I like Tampa to cover as well. Of course, 3.5 is a more appetizing spread if you can still get it, but I think Tampa will keep it close in a high-scoring game. The Bucs haven’t scored less than 30 points since December 13 and the Chiefs are coming off a 38 point victory in the AFC Championship Game. The KC. offense is, without question, one of the best in the league. But their defense has allowed teams to climb back into games late. The Chiefs are 1-1 ATS in the postseason and they could very well win another Super Bowl tonight. But if they do, I’ll be closer than you think.G/O Media may get a commissionI’m not going to keep betting against Tom Brady in the postseason, especially when he’s the one getting the points.Weather: Late last week, this game looked like it could’ve been disrupted with thunderstorms. Now, the forecast calls for 67º and clear skies at kickoff. .

What time is Super Bowl 2021? Chiefs vs. Buccaneers kickoff time, TV channel for Super Bowl 55

The 2021 Super Bowl will kick off at what's become a standard start time for the NFL's final game of the season. Get your televisions or live streams to CBS at 6:30 p.m. ET to make sure you don't miss a moment of Chiefs vs. Buccaneers from Tampa's Raymond James Stadium. You could be tuning in to the greatest quarterback matchup in Super Bowl history. On one side is six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, but he's not wearing his familiar Patriots colors. He migrated south for the 2020 season, abandoning Bill Belichick in New England and joining Tampa Bay. He and the Buccaneers were only good enough for a wild-card spot in the regular season, but they've won three playoff games on the road to get a home Super Bowl. MORE: Watch Super Bowl 55 live with fuboTV (7-day free trial)Opposing Brady is Patrick Mahomes, only the reigning Super Bowl MVP who hoisted the Lombardi Trophy about a year ago. Any discussion of what modern QB could rival Brady as the greatest of all time starts with Mahomes, who may have the most arm talent in NFL history. The third-year starter won MVP in 2018 and Super Bowl MVP last year. He's pretty good himself. The star-studded nature of this game doesn't end with the quarterbacks, of course. Mahomes' top weapons are Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, while Brady's offense is loaded with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones. Whichever defense can slow down a legendary quarterback could have the advantage. So don't miss a moment of the action. That's despite the game being played in Tampa Bay's home, Raymond James Stadium.Super Bowl odds (via DraftKings Sportsbook):Point spread: Chiefs -3.5Over/under total: 57.5Super Bowl picks, predictions:Vinnie Iyer: Last year in this space, I somehow went with a pick against Patrick Mahomes. Let's correct that now, because the Chiefs are playing as complete Super Bowl reigning champions.Tom Brady has done great work leading the Buccaneers and raising their offensive efficiency. The "home team" also has a pretty good overall defense. But the Chiefs counter well and have QB play, pass defense, coaching and experience all on their side on top of that unstoppable, intimidating feeling. Although Brady will have his typical Super Bowl moments, Mahomes will have a lot more of his to ensure the Chiefs repeat, keeping himself on a special trajectory to rack up rings.Prediction: Chiefs 31, Buccaneers 27Bill Bender: Patrick Mahomes passed for 462 yards in the regular-season meeting, and at one point it looked like Tyreek Hill would set the single-game receiving record. Tackle Eric Fisher’s injury is a major storyline given how Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul were able to combine for five sacks in the NFC championship game, but Mahomes presents more of a challenge because of his mobility.Look for a similar game to emerge the second-time around. Kansas City will build a first-half lead behind TD passes to Hill and Travis Kelce, but Tom Brady — as he so often does — will lead a comeback in the second half. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski will make their share of plays in the passing games, and Leonard Fournette will be more involved this time around. In the end, however, the Chiefs don’t give Brady a chance to lead the game-winning drive. Mahomes wins Super Bowl MVP honors again, and Andy Reid starts thinking about a three-peat.Prediction: Chiefs 35, Buccaneers 32Mike DeCourcy: There is no such thing as an undeserving Super Bowl entrant. Getting into the NFL Playoffs, when margins in the league are so narrow between success and failure, is an underrated accomplishment. Maneuvering through those playoffs to the ultimate stage is amazing.Sometimes, that achievement needs to be embraced — because that’s as good as it’s going to get.The Buccaneers were a 7-9 team a year ago. They were 5-11 the year before that. Now, they are a Super Bowl team. Soon they will be a Super Bowl loser, but until kickoff they can revel in the overnight quality of their success. They brought in an “aging” Tom Brady, watched him wrestle with the conversion to a new system, heard those who doubted it ever would take and now can laugh at those who wondered if he could be successful with a different team, at an age when most NFL players are long since retired. The Super Bowl will not be about Brady, though. It will be about how Tampa can stop Patrick Mahomes. They did an excellent job against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. But this is even a half-step beyond that. And they won’t succeed. Mahomes is too elusive, too inventive. It will not be easy for KC, but it will be done.Prediction: Chiefs 33, Buccaneers 24Matt Lutovsky: The Buccaneers don’t have many weaknesses, but if there’s one area they struggle, it’s pass defense. That’s not ideal against Patrick Mahomes and company, so unless the loss of Eric Fisher (Achilles’) opens the door for Tampa’s solid pass rush to wreak havoc, Kansas City should have a key advantage. Tampa will be able to run with its dynamic duo in the backfield — and it figures to shut down KC on the ground — but Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill are playing so well it might not matter. Throw in an opportunistic Kansas City defense against a somewhat mistake-prone Bucs offense, and you have just enough reason to like the Chiefs here.Prediction: Chiefs 30, Buccaneers 24Joe Rivera: The more things change, the more they stay the same. While the Chiefs aren’t playing the 49ers in the Super Bowl this year, the matchup looks very similar in a lot of ways, and a lot like last year, the Chiefs’ defense is the key ingredient that isn’t been talked about enough throughout another KC romp through the playoffs. While Patrick Mahomes (deservedly) gets most of the praise for being a human “Madden” glitch, the Chiefs’ defense held one of the NFL’s most potent offenses to just 15 points through three quarters in the AFC championship game, with a few inconsequential scores bumping up the Bills’ total to 24 points. The Chiefs are, once again, playing a top-level defense with a pretty killer pass rush. Without left tackle Eric Fisher (out with an Achilles tear), Kansas City will have its hands full with both Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett, though Mahomes’ mobility and Andy Reid’s creative play-calling will likely mitigate the threat of the pass rush, much like they did in Super Bowl 54. In order to beat a Brady-led team, you have to play a near perfect game. Tampa Bay’s wide receiver corps is going to be a lot to deal with. The run game will be, too.But the “Patrick Price” is going to be too much for Brady and the Bucs to pay, and Mahomes will get his playoff revenge for the 2018 AFC championship game loss to then-Patriot Brady.Prediction: Chiefs 34, Buccaneers 24Billy Heyen: As much as everyone will bill this matchup as Patrick Mahomes vs. Tom Brady, it's really Mahomes versus the Buccaneers' pass rush. Mahomes, the far better quarterback than Brady at this stage, needs to be neutralized for Tampa Bay to have any shot of winning. We already saw in Week 12 that the Buccaneers have no shot of covering Tyreek Hill. And Travis Kelce has proven time and again this season that basically no one can guard him. If Mahomes has time to stand in and deliver to his top weapons, it'll be a long day for the de facto home team in Tampa. Even if Mahomes doesn't have time, he may just be too good to stop, anyway.Yes, it's remarkable that Brady is in his 10th Super Bowl in his first year with a new team at age 43. But for all his GOAT-ness, Brady can't impact Mahomes' performance in Super Bowl 55.Prediction: Chiefs 34, Buccaneers 24 .

What channel is the Super Bowl on? Chiefs vs. Buccaneers time, TV schedule, streaming for 2021

You won't have to look hard to find Chiefs vs. Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55 on your television. And it's even got a nice, relatively early start time so that the kids can stay up for the whole thing before going to school the next day. Just tune your TV set to CBS by 6:30 p.m. ET to see Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes face off in maybe the greatest Super Bowl quarterback matchup in NFL history. There are certainly riveting dueling narratives for the game. On one side, Brady's Buccaneers are playing at home in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium in Brady's first year away from the Patriots. On the other side is last year's Super Bowl MVP Mahomes and the reigning champion Chiefs. Mahomes and the Chiefs only lost one game all season, way back on Oct. 11 to the Raiders. Since then, they've made relatively light work of the entire NFL as Mahomes has continued to thrive in his third year as a starter in the Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy offense. Combined with dominant weapons like wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce, Kansas City is tough to stop.MORE: Watch Super Bowl 55 live with fuboTV (7-day free trial)But if anyone can find a way to win yet again on the biggest stage, it's Brady. Tom Brady net worth: How much money did Buccaneers QB make in 2020?
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Patrick Mahomes may have the most lucrative contract in American sports history, but he still has a few years to wait if he wants to catch up to the accrued wealth of Tom Brady. The Bucs quarterback has made hundreds of millions of dollars, a total that was made no less impressive in his first of two seasons in Tampa Bay: He stands to make $50 million in just two seasons. And, while that won't match Mahomes' eventual per-annual average of $45 million, it's still nothing to sneeze at. Being arguably the greatest player ever in the game of football will do that for you. For as much money as Brady has made, New England — and Tampa Bay — probably considers him worth every penny. Here's a breakdown of Brady's net worth, which includes money made in 2020 and over the course of his NFL career, plus endorsements and business dealings:MORE: The NFL's 25 highest-paid players in 2020How much does Tom Brady make?Brady made $25 million in 2020 just off base salary ($15 million) and roster bonus ($10 million). “Mattress Mack” Bets $3.46 Million On The Super Bowl
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Sports betting enthusiast and Houston-area furniture mogul Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is making another massive wager on a high-profile sporting event. He made waves in the sports betting world over the last few days as it was revealed that he wagered $3.46 million on the Super Bowl. On Wednesday, he flew to Colorado, a state that recently legalized sports betting, and placed the seven-figure bet on the DraftKings mobile app. McIngvale took the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the spread. The NFC representative in the Super Bowl is getting 3.5 points against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. He famously lost $13 million betting on the Houston Astros to win the 2019 World Series. He made the bet as a hedge against a promotion he was running at his furniture store. During the 2019 Major League Baseball season, McIngvale said that if the hometown team won the World Series, he would give customers a full refund on any mattress purchase of $3,000 or more. He is running a nearly identical promotion at his store this year, offering the same refund and price point if the Bucs defeat the Chiefs this Sunday. Given the spread, if the Chiefs win by less than four points, he won’t have to refund his customers and also win $2.72 million from the Boston-based online sportsbook. While many of his high-profile bets are hedges against store promotions, McIngvale clearly likes to gamble. Last year, he lost $2 million betting against the Chiefs in the playoffs. He bet $1 million on them to lose in both the AFC Championship game and the Super Bowl. “Tampa Bay is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and led by the greatest football player of all time in Tom Brady, so I’m betting big on the Bucs who have overcome tough matchups throughout this postseason,” said McIngvale in a statement on the DraftKings website. “The NFL has only seen eight instances of back-to-back champions and none in the past 16 years, so I like my chances going into Super Bowl LV for this trend to continue.”       .
